King Saud University launches intellectual property program
Biomed Silico, a joint venture of King Saud University’s Prince Sultan Research Center for Environment and Wildlife and the university’s Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing Program (IPTL), was developed to provide user-friendly software for specific biomedical applications.
KSU has begun marketing its intellectual products through the company, according to Dr. Khalid Al-Saleh, IPTL’s director.
According to Dr. Al-Saleh, Biomed Silico offers software for the statistical analysis of research data in the areas of genetics, genes and drug therapy dosing, and radiation technology. Software also is available for several other applications in the fields of medical and biological sciences and the humanities.
Among the applications are:
- Array Solver
- SCEW
- CalcNTCP
- CalcFisher
- CalcDose
- ArrayVigil
The software can be acquired with one or two-year licensing rights.
Organizations using the software include the Prince Sultan Research Center, the Harvard Medical School and the World Health Organization (WHO), according to Dr. Al-Saleh.
