On Sunday, Prince Sultan bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s chairman of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, was the honored guest at an exposition given by King Saud University Rector Abdullah Al-Othman. The Rector’s speech outlined some ambitious projects underway in Western Riyadh, featuring key details of the ambitious flagship Riyadh Techno Valley (RTV), KSU’s burgeoning science and technology park. RTV is being built to facilitate the creation of a knowledge economy in Saudi Arabia, as well as to enhance the nation’s contributions to scientific research and innovation. The event also featured three key RTV team members, General Supervisor of the RTV Prof. Ali Al-Ghamdi and Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Dosari, Assistant General Supervisor for Technical Affairs and Engineering.
The presentation informed Prince Sultan about the roles that RTV will play in the Kingdom’s pursuit of a knowledge economy, a system that stresses knowledge engineering and management. Such an economy will soon provide Saudi Arabia with significant economic benefits, as well as significant job creation. During his walk through the corridors of the Valley, the Prince was acquainted with the many potential scientific achievements that are possible through such a science and technology park, and upon the tour’s conclusion, Prince Sultan was commended for his important support and contributions to the realization of this important project.
